JIKIDEN REIKI THERAPIST

'A Natural Treatment Method for the Improvement of the Body and Mind"

About Me

My name is Carol Philipson and I would like to welcome you to my website.

I live in the beautiful North Tyne Valley in Northumberland with my husband David, our son Dan, and our pet cocker spaniel Millie.

I was first introduced to Reiki in Greece, where I met my Reiki Teacher (Shihan).  We became good friends, and she eventually taught me to be a Reiki Practitioner.

Then, in 2015, I was very privileged to meet Tadao Yamaguchi Sensei, Head of the Institute of Jikiden Reiki, who travelled from Japan to conduct a course in London, and I repeated my training with him.

Jikiden means "directly taught".

This method of treatment is replicated as closely as possible to the original teachings.  I have learned Jikiden Reiki from direct lineage, which has given me an even greater depth of knowledge and understanding of the principles of Jikiden Reiki.

I have also completed training to become an Equine Reiki Practitioner, and can treat horses as well as humans.

Jikiden Reiki

For the Improvement of the Body and Mind

Jikiden means 'directly taught'.

This method of treatment is replicated as closely as possible to the original teachings.  It is an authentic, highly effective, pure Japanese form of Universal energy healing.

Pronounced ray-key, it is a non-religious healing technique founded and developed by Mikao Usui (1865 - 1926).

As well as the physical healing process, it also offers great relaxation for those who live busy lives and suffer from the stresses put upon them in today's society. A Jikiden Reiki treatment re-awakens the natural healing process we all possess, focusing energy in the areas where it is most needed.  This enhances healing and relaxation by helping the body to eliminate the build-up of toxins and stiffness which can gather and cause blockages.

Jikiden Reiki can never do you any harm, but can make an incredible difference to some.

Jikiden Reiki Treatment

During a treatment, you remain fully clothed and usually lie on a couch, covered in a warm blanket. (This can vary according to the client's needs.)  I place my hands gently onto the receiver's head, feet and various places on the body, to feel the byosen (sensations in the hands which direct me to areas which have the most toxins) and the Reiki energy is transmitted to the receiver.

Some people feel heat from my hands, tingling, a trickling sensation, or they may feel nothing.... this does not mean that the Reiki is not working.

At the end of the treatment, I perform a five-ten minute 'Ketsueki Kokan Ho' massage technique to help awaken the body - the receiver often feels quite sleepy after a Reiki treatment.

A treatment usually lasts about an hour, but may be more if necessary, and most people find it an extremely relaxing experience, and a time to naturally let go and drift into a calm space.

Jikiden Reiki Treatment

This may be used to help with worries, panic attacks, phobias, depression etc, and help rebalance you and give you more self confidence.  It can be used in conjunction with the physical treatment and traditional therapy with a medical professional.
You would normally receive the treatment fully clothed, sitting in a chair or lying down covered in a blanket.
A course of three or four treatments may be required according to the receiver's needs.

Equine Reiki Treatment

Some of the probems or areas that I and others have found Reiki to help horses with include physical injuries (tendons/ligaments etc), sweet itch, laminitis, colic, box walking, competition stress (for horse and rider!), performance, owner-horse relationship, loading problems, etc. - the list is endless!

I will decide whether to treat your horse tied up, free in the stable, or sometimes over the stable door.  I will either lay my hands on the horse's body or from a space away, depending on how the horse wishes to receive the energy.  The energy is drawn through me into the horse, helping to produce a state of balance.

How Might my Horse React?

- The great thing about using Reiki on horses is that you can 'see' it working.  Your horse will most likely relax, lick his lips, lower his head and neck and pass wind. Some horses will lie down to sleep.  Youngsters may not show as many signs during their first treatment as an older horse may, however, the young horse will often lie down to sleep after the treatment when he is alone.  No matter what the reaction, Reiki is giving your horse what he/she needs.

How many Treatments?

- The effects of Reiki build up cumulatively, so it is advised to have a course of treatments to help produce long-term beneficial changes, emotionally and physically.  It is generally recommended to have a course of treatments, between 4-6 at weekly intervals.
